An innovative proposal and idea, in accordance to the present art scene of Greece, comes to consolidate Concept Art as something completely new. "Lola Nikolaou Gallery", in collaboration with young artists of the School of Fine Arts of Florina, with the support of internationally recognized concept artists, with a background in Hollywood and video games, present the Project "Periapsis". It is the first Greek Sci-Fi Concept Art- Art exhibition, in a gallery within our country. Based on a concept as inspired by Kyriakos Bournas, six artists, three international concept artists and a ten year old charismatic designer, build a world of an apocalyptic dystopia in orbit of an angelic fall. Project "Periapsis", creates an allegorical narrative, through an imaginative prism, identifying with the situation in which we live. The works are the visual brainstorming of ideas and images that derive from a single morphoplastic line. The "as formed" scenario, invites the viewer to read and discover it through a series of works, that have been created following the lines of the concept and research of the Project "Periapsis", which deals with the meeting and conflict of man with the supernatural forces.
Periapsis (περίαψη), is the point of the orbit of a natural satellite, at the time when it is closest to its planet and it is internationally represented by the Greek lowercase letter omega (ω). More specifically, and according to definition: "The "ω" is the angle that is being formed between the periapsis of the orbit and the upcoming celestial body (the point which the celestial body crosses the level of reference - usually the ecliptic level - with direction from South to North). The top of the angle is in center with the orbit." Periapsis is used to calculate the trajectory of a celestial body entering the atmosphere of a planet's gravitational field. Into the planet stars of the solar system, as well as our own, we have incoming particles, so far unknown, which after being recognized they are triggered and their collision course with our planet, is the result of a series of apocalyptic events.
"... Then I saw another mighty angel
coming down from heaven,
wrapped in a cloud,
with a rainbow over his head,
and his face was like the sun,
and his legs like pillars of fire.... "
